Summary
Lacey Solferino is a field-based faculty member and lecturer at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, in the Educator Preparation Department. In her role, she teaches education courses, coordinates field experiences, conducts observations, and provides feedback for pre-service teachers. Lacey collaborates diligently with university faculty, as well as teachers and administrators from the Washoe County School District, to implement and maintain a high-quality teacher preparation program.
A native ÁùºÏ±¦µän and a first-generation graduate of the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, Lacey previously worked as an elementary education teacher for 18 years in the Washoe County School District. During that time, she served as a site-based leadership representative, facilitated new teacher mentoring through the Department of Mentoring and Induction, and led professional development initiatives. Lacey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in early childhood literacy from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, she holds a TESOL certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Sierra ÁùºÏ±¦µä College.
Lacey's educational interests also include the implementation and coaching of MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support), youth agriculture and 4-H, and student and children’s ministry. In her free time, she enjoys training and riding horses, as well as tending to animals on her family’s ranch outside of Reno.
