Center for Learning and Literacy
The E.L. Cord Foundation Center for Learning & Literacy tutors children in grades 1-6 who have difficulties learning to read, write, and spell. Children are tutored in small groups with an emphasis on developmental instruction and providing positive learning experiences. A progress report with recommendations is prepared for parents after tutoring. The centers tutoring program does fill up early, so register soon.
Child & Family Research Center (CFRC)
The Child & Family Research Center provides early childhood care and education to children from ages 6 weeks to 6 years. This service is offered to University students, faculty and staff, and families who meet the annual federal poverty guidelines for the Early Head Start Program. Students must be enrolled in at least six credits with a degree program, faculty and classified staff must work at least .50 FTE.
Early Learning Center
The Early Learning Center (ELC) serves as a model classroom in the Washoe County School District and for the learning community in the College of Education & Human Development. The ELC models multi-year, multi-age educational experiences and developmental and integrated instruction. The mission of a ELC classroom is to create a nurturing learning environment in which each child can learn and be successful at their individual developmental levels.
Learning Resource Center (LRC)
The function of the Nell J. Redfield Learning Resource Center is to provide a variety of resources to educators, university students, teachers, and counselors. The services provided include instructional support and curriculum enrichment. Students and faculty at the university, as well as teachers, administrators, and counselors in surrounding school districts, are invited to use the center's resources.
ÁùºÏ±¦µä Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED)
The mission of the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Center for Excellence is Disabilities is to work cooperatively with consumers, family members, and professionals to assist ÁùºÏ±¦µäns with developmental disabilities of all ages to be independent and productive citizens who are included in their communities.
Raggio Center for Advancement in (STEM)2
The purpose of the Raggio Center for Advancement in (STEM)2 is to promote a better understanding of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines by providing quality programs focused in outreach, research and other areas.
