Counselor Education

Our program educates competent, culturally aware, ethical counselors who will provide exceptional services in both public and private settings to meet the needs of a increasingly diverse society.

Degrees in Counselor Education

Master of Arts in Counseling

Our master's degree program includes emphases in marriage, family, and couples counseling (MFCC); school counseling; and clinical mental health counseling. Both MCFC and school counseling tracks are CACREP-accredited, and clinical mental health is currently under review for accreditation.

Ph.D. in Education: Counselor Education and Supervision

This area of emphasis is an excellent fit for individuals who wish to pursue counselor education and counseling leadership positions, excelling in research, writing, teaching, service, securing external funding, assuming professional leadership roles in the counseling field, and providing clinical supervision.

Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) logoThe Counseling programs have been given the counseling profession's highest seal of approval. The Counseling Department has met the rigorous national standards of the  (CACREP), which ensures that our graduates receive a superior education.

The programs that have been accredited include the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling.


University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno - Counseling and department has been approved as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 3048. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno - Counseling Department is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
