First-year students
Enrolling in college for the first time? We know this can be a busy and exciting time, and we are here to support you.
Math is YOUR path!
We recommend that students take math throughout high school in preparation for an engineering degree. All our engineering degree programs start at MATH 181 (Calculus 1).
It is recommended that students take AP calculus or a dual-credit calculus course in their senior year of high school. If you were unable to complete calculus in high school, submit your ACT or SAT scores for math placement.
If you did not take the ACT or SAT or would like to see if you could gain a higher math placement, you will be eligible to take the University’s ALEKS PPL math placement assessment.
For more questions about math placement, we recommend working with you academic advisor to determine the best path to prepare for math in the College of Engineering.
