The Office of Student Conduct oversees and manages various educational programs designed to address behaviors associated with violations of the Student Code of Conduct. To assist students in understanding these educational programs, each program offered by the office is summarized below. Students can be sanctioned by the administrative faculty of the Office of Student Conduct and/or Residential Life, Housing, & Food Services to the following courses as appropriate. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation during a program or have questions about the access provided to participate in a program, please submit your request, in writing, to studentconduct@unr.edu. Ideally, this request should be submitted no later than five (5) Working Days in advance of your participation or visit.
This program offers two one-on-one sessions with a trained program educator. In these sessions, students will receive information and develop skills to assist them in making choices related to the use of alcohol that support safety and student success. Students will also be required to complete homework assignments.
This program offers two one-on-one sessions with a trained program educator. Students will also be required to complete homework assignments.
This minimum three-week educational program offers a one-on-one experience with a trained program educator. Students will have the opportunity to gain awareness of their alcohol use behaviors, learn strategies to navigate safe drinking behavior, and set goals aimed at student success. Students will also be required to complete homework assignments.
This minimum four-week educational program exposes students to strategies and skills known to increase their student success. The topics explored include: time management, self-motivation, emotional intelligence, self-responsibility and how substances impact these areas of student success. Students are expected to remain abstinent from substances throughout the program by participating in drug and alcohol testing; attend four educational workshops; complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete homework assignments.
The Fake ID Impact Workshop is a virtual, asynchronous workshop for students who have been cited or referred for using a fake ID or distributing their ID to underage persons. Students will be able to reflect on the consequences of using or distributing a fake ID to prevent future offenses.
This two-session workshop is held in-person and is an opportunity for students to recognize and analyze inconsistencies between their values and their actions in order to reflect on their decision-making. It will help students build a deeper understanding of what it means to take accountability and why it is important. Students will create strategies to help them be more accountable in the future. Students will also be required to complete homework assignments.
This course is an asynchronous, online workshop designed to support the student in re-examining their relationship with anger and identify appropriate methods to diffuse conflicts and avoid adverse consequences resulting from uncontrollable emotions.
