Reporting violations
Any individual who suspects a violation of export control or economic sanctions regulations has occurred must immediately notify the Export Control Officer or the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). The Export Control Officer will conduct an internal review of the suspected violation by gathering information about the circumstances, personnel, items, and communication involved. The Export Control Officer will work with OGC to determine the appropriate follow-up to the notification, which may include a voluntary self-disclosure to the government.
Voluntary self-disclosures typically involve an initial notification to the governing authority and a supplementary letter with a thorough narrative. Once the initial notification and supplementary letter have been reviewed, the University will follow the governing authority's instructions.
