Civil Engineering Accreditation
The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission(s) of , under the General Criteria and the Civil Engineering Program Criteria.
Program Educational Objectives (PEO) for the BSCE Degree
Within three to five years after graduation from the BSCE program at the University of 六合宝典, Reno, successful graduates will:
- Be actively employed in engineering design, construction management or otherwise within subdisciplines of civil engineering (e.g., structural, geotechnical, transportation, environmental or pavement engineering and science).
- Be ascending into leadership roles while utilizing their communication skills, accumulated education and experience on multidisciplinary teams to solve complex societal issues.
- Engage in life鈥恖ong learning, as evidenced by obtaining licensure as a professional engineer, pursuing graduate education, actively participating in professional societies and community organizations, completing professional development courses and/or practicing in allied fields (e.g., entrepreneur/business owner, project management or the business, legal or construction professions).
Student Outcomes (S0) for the BSCE Degree
- SO 1 – STEM Application
Students will have an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. - SO 2 – Engineering Design
Students will have an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. - SO 3 – Communication
Students will have an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences. - SO 4 – Professional Context
Students will have an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts. - SO 5 – Teamwork
Students will have an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives. - SO 6 – Experimentation & Data Analysis
Students will have an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions. - SO 7 – Continuous Learning
Students will have an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
