Summary
Darrell B. Lockhart was appointed associate dean for the College of Liberal Arts at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, in 2014. He also is a professor of Spanish and formerly served as chair of World Languages and Literatures. He received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1995 with a specialization in contemporary Latin American literature and Jewish Studies.
His research focuses primarily on Jewish Latin American literature and cultural production, and he has numerous publications in this field. He also has published on Latin American detective literature and science fiction. In addition, Lockhart is an accomplished literary translator. His translation into English of the Argentine author Manuela Fingueret's novel "Daughter of Silence" was chosen by World Literature Today as one of the best translations of 2012. He is the co-president of the Latin American Jewish Studies Association, an international research organization.
He has taught a variety of courses that range from beginning Portuguese and Core Humanities to Translation and contemporary Latin American literature and cinema.
