Services
At the THRIVE Center, we provide clients with comprehensive assessment and treatment planning. We know that every client and their situation is different, and we give every client personalized attention when making treatment recommendations.
Based on our assessment, we may be able to offer individual psychotherapy.
We offer individual services for:
-
Victims of interpersonal violence
-
Secondary victims of interpersonal violence (which includes children who may have witnessed the violence)
While all psychotherapy recommendations are made on a case by case basis, all the treatments used by our providers are evidence based, trauma informed, confidential and free.
Based on our assessment, we may be able to offer a 10-module skills group. This group helps those who have survived interpersonal violence to THRIVE!
In this group, you will learn how to communicate more effectively. This means learning how to tell others how you feel and ask for what you want (and get it too!). You will also learn to be more mindful, gain control over your emotions, and tolerate distressing situations better. Imagine waking up and experiencing the days events like clouds that come and go in the sky rather than getting caught up and stuck in the bad parts. Our skills group will teach you how to do this by reviewing skills to help you gain acceptance and control!
We can offer a two-day version of this skills group as a workshop at community agencies upon request. If you are an agency and would like for us to conduct the workshop at your agency for your clients and staff please contact us for details regarding this option.
It is common to present to the THRIVE Center with many needs. Often times, these needs are about more than just about wanting therapy.
Therapists at the THRIVE Center are passionate about meeting all of your needs and helping you to achieve a well-balanced life. We work closely with several community partners and often provide referrals to our clients. These referrals may include case management, victim advocacy, primary care appointments, legal services, addictions treatment, housing, food, other social services and more.
Therapists at the THRIVE Center are active members of several city and state level victim advocacy groups, including the Washoe County Domestic Violence Taskforce and the Alliance for Victims Rights. We ensure that our team is up to date with the latest information and services pertaining to those who have suffered violence in intimate relationships.
At the THRIVE Center, we understand that life can get busy! We know that it can be difficult to attend weekly in-person sessions, so we created an e-Health intervention just for you.
Navigate to the e-Health Resources webpage for a brief overview of the core skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy that you will need to be more mindful, calm and effective with others in your daily life.
Some people may feel like they need therapy, but may not want to come to in-person therapy. There are many reasons why a person may feel this way. Some people may feel like their problems are not serious enough yet to see a psychologist. Others may think that they can handle the problem on their own. Still others may want to attend in person session, but may be nervous about what to expect or may be unable to attend weekly in-person sessions due to their schedule. Bibilotherapy is a great starting option in all of these cases.
Bibliotherapy includes reading books written by professionals about your problem on your own time. Bibliotherapy is similar to self-help. At the THRIVE Center, we recommend the following bibliotherapy options:
-
'Feeling Good' by David Burns
-
'Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life' By Steve Hayes
-
'Wherever You Go There You Are' by Jon Kabat Zinn
-
'The Mindful Way Through Depression: Freeing Yourself From Chronic Unhappiness' by Mark Williams, John Teasdale, Zindel Segal, and Jon Kabat Zinn
If you have tried our bibliotherapy options but you feel that your problems are still getting in the way of you living your best life, give us a call and we can evaluate ways to help.
