Volunteers are held to the same moral and ethical standards as Pack Provisions staff. Volunteers are required to keep all information about visitors confidential. Here's what we're looking for in volunteers:

• Enthusiasm for helping others
• Excellent communication skills
• Super customer service skills

All volunteers must fill out paperwork prior to volunteering. Before or on the date of your first shift, please check in with a staff member who will be happy to give you a form to complete. Please complete the form and turn it into a Pack Provisions staff member.

Pack Provisions can not operate without volunteers! Additional responsibilities will depend on the present need but can consist of:

• Ensuring the limits of items are being adhered to
• Organizing and sorting the food and resource pantry
• Tabling to promote program awareness
• Special projects including outreach, communications, research and programming

We have specific outreach events throughout the semester as well as deliveries from the food bank, and open opportunities where volunteers can work on packing orders and restocking the pantry on their own time. Volunteers can choose whatever works best for their schedule.

ASUN Pack Provisions is committed to supporting every member of the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä community in achieving academic success. We do this by facilitating access to perishable and non-perishable foods and offering SNAP education, meal swipes, and hygiene items. Our mission revolves around eliminating the barriers that University community members may encounter when faced with financial hardships. The pantry focuses on students facing food insecurity, enabling them to access various options while they navigate their academic pursuits and daily responsibilities.

While the pantry displays a diverse collection of food items, it is essential to acknowledge that our resources are limited. We'd like to ask you to follow the limitations in the pantry so we may help all of those in need. We can provide information on nearby local pantries if you need additional food beyond Pack Provisions resources.

Each time a person accesses the Food Pantry they are required to complete the Intake form and present the final screen to a Pack Provisions Staff member. The Intake Form is accessible via QR codes which are readily displayed around the pantry. Completing this form each time provides resources to the pantry.

The pantry is exclusively open to university-affiliated individuals, including current students, staff, and faculty. Users are required to confirm their university affiliation by presenting their Wolf card (Student ID) at each visit. Those who are not affiliated with the university will not be able to access the resource.  The Wolf Card used must match the person utilizing the service.

Please know that users are asked to use the provided baskets when gathering items from Pack Provisions. Users are limited to one basket full of items at each visit. No reusable bags or backpacks will be allowed into the pantry for filling food items.

Pack Provisions staff members will inspect the items in users' baskets to determine compliance with established limits. Please ask a staff or volunteer if you are not clear on the limit.

We ask that you bring your reusable bag each time you visit, as we don’t always have bags to give you.

Wolf Pack Meats are exclusively available on Mondays through Thursdays, with a limit of one pack per person while supplies last. Wolf Pack Meats will be given out on a request-only basis.

ASUN Pack Provisions serves an average of 400 weekly users. We kindly ask you to cooperate in following the prescribed limits for each category of food items.

The pantry's operating hours are from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please ensure that your pantry visits are scheduled during these open hours only.

Your cooperation with these policies and expectations helps us to serve the University community better. We allow no exceptions to our policies, and your privileges using the pantry will be revoked if you are found in violation.

Pack Provisions adheres to the policies of the Food Bank of Northern ÁùºÏ±¦µä and Feeding America. The safety of our clients is our number one priority. Listed below are some common terms that you will see on food packaging. These can help guide your choices when you select your food.

• Exp: Foods past their expiration date aren't necessarily expired. They should be checked for spoilage.
• Best by: This does not indicate the safety of the product. It is used to gauge when a product will be at its best flavor.
• Sell by: This is not a safety date. It is for retail purposes only.
• Use by: This is a safety date only for infant formula. It's the last day recommended for use while at peak quality.
• Freeze by: When a product should be frozen for peak quality.

Spoiled foods will have an off flavor, texture or odor. These foods should not be consumed. Please be cognizant of any health conditions that may limit the foods you can consume.
