ÁùºÏ±¦µä Student Media Advisory Board

Purpose

The purpose of the Student Media Advisory Board at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno is to assist the Student Media in the effective and professional conduct of their operations and to advocate for their interests and well-being. The authority of the Board is derived from the Associated Student of the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä (ASUN). Student Media, as defined herein, are any publications (print, digital or electronic) or broadcast media that meet the following criteria:

  1. Content or programming is primarily the product of student effort and is controlled by a student editor or manager;
  2. In content, mission, and employment of student staff, the activity unmistakably serves the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno community; and
  3. The Associated Students of the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä is the designated fiduciary agent.

This statement describes the organization of the Board and the scope of the activities it may undertake to fulfill its responsibilities. The Student Media Advisory Board shall establish a definite course of action for the operations of the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Student Media. The official ÁùºÏ±¦µä Student Media shall be:

  1. The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Sagebrush
  2. Insight Magazine
  3. Brushfire Literary & Arts Journal
  4. Wolf Pack Radio

The Editors and Managers are responsible for all aspects of their respective ÁùºÏ±¦µä student media, including management, staff, strategic direction, and budget. The newly elected editors or manager are expected to improve and grow the student media in some way thus, candidates must show the Selection Committee how they will accomplish that. Candidates are expected to give a ten-minute presentation followed by questions from the selection committee. Presentation times will be set prior to the interview. This presentation should outline your experience and your vision of your respected student media.
