Regional Alliance of INBRE Networks (RAIN) funding opportunity

The purpose of the (RAIN) funding opportunity announcement is to stimulate collaborative, biomedical research between two researchers in two western IDeA states of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, ÁùºÏ±¦µä, New Mexico and Wyoming․ The goal of RAIN is to increase interdisciplinary research collaborations among faculty and broaden research and education opportunities for students. The research projects are also intended to produce outcomes that include competitive research approaches, scientific publications and successful proposals for non-IDeA federal funding․

Investigators are encouraged to take advantage of ÁùºÏ±¦µä INBRE core resources and to include student researchers where appropriate․

Users will need to create a login/password. Only one user (per collaboration) should enter information in the online application system.

Pre-proposals due: October 11, 2024 (300 word abstract and both investigators' contact information are required for pre-proposal submission)

Invitations to submit full proposals: August-October (collaborations should be prepared to submit a three-page research strategy written together; other paperwork will be required)

Full proposals due: February 7, 2025

Earliest start date: April 1, 2025. Applicants will be notified of award decisions via email by March 14, 2025.

Award budget: Up to $20,000 in direct costs, per investigator/project, per state. If there is more than one investigator from the same state, the maximum amount of direct costs is $20,000 to be split between investigators.

Award period: Projects will be approved for up to two years in duration. The award budget is limited to a maximum of $20,000 directs costs per investigator total (can be spent over the course of two years).
