Western Regional Graduate Program
The (WRGP) is a tuition-savings program that makes out-of-state graduate studies more affordable for students. Through WRGP, you will receive a reduced tuition rate, giving you more educational options for your money. Currently, the WRGP tuition rate for students accepted into this program is 105% of the in-state tuition rate, i.e. slightly above the tuition rate for ÁùºÏ±¦µä residents.
The WRGP is an agreement among WICHE’s 16 member states, through which participating Western public universities allow residents of WICHE states to only pay in-state tuition when attending select graduate certificate, master’s, and doctoral programs. For WICHE students of WRGP programs, the out-of-state tuition is waived.
WRGP benefits may be used for a maximum of three (3) years for master’s degree students and five (5) years for doctoral degree students.
If you are admitted to a participating WRGP degree program, meet the WRGP criteria and are interested in applying to the WRGP program, please . You will receive an email about your WRGP status within five to seven (5-7) business days of submitting the form.
WRGP overview
- Residency requirement. The program is open to students who meet the residency criteria*. They must be able to claim residency in one of the participating WICHE states or territories. International students living in the U.S. are not eligible unless they are residents of a participating state or territory.
- Academic requirement. Must be accepted and enrolled in a participating WRGP degree program
- Admitted to one program. Students who are offered the WRGP discount are only allowed to be admitted to one WRGP program and cannot simultaneously be admitted to a non WRGP program.
- Academic standing. Students must remain in good academic standing to remain eligible.
- Enrollment status. Students must remain continuously enrolled in the program from original admit term. A student cannot be dropped for non-enrollment or dismissed for low GPA and remain in the WRGP program.
- Length of benefits. WRGP benefits may be used for a maximum of three (3) years for master’s degree students and five (5) years for doctoral degree students. Approved students will only need to complete the form once. The Graduate School will verify eligibility each semester.
- Graduate assistantships. If a student accepts a graduate assistantship, they will be removed from the WRGP program. The benefits of a GA position override the WRGP benefits.
*If a student is considered an in-state resident or is eligible for in-state residency for ÁùºÏ±¦µä, they will not be eligible for WRGP benefits, as in-state benefits override the WRGP benefits.
