Global Engagement Award

The Global Engagement Award is a university-wide award of the Ozmen Institute for Global Studies for full-time academic faculty and administrative faculty in recognition of their outstanding contributions to international programs, international program development, academic and global research programs, or international research and outreach at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno. Funding for the award is provided by the Ozmen Institute for Global Studies in collaboration with the Office of International Students & Scholars, University Studies Abroad Consortium, and the Office of the Provost.

One recipient is selected annually for the Global Engagement Award. The monetary award of $3,000 recognizes outstanding contributions to international programs, program development, academic and global research or international research and outreach at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno. Winners are recognized at the annual Honor the Best ceremony.

Eligibility and nominations

To be eligible, the nominee must be a current full-time academic faculty or administrative faculty who has been at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno for at least five years. A major part of the nominee's international contributions must be in association with the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno and must have occurred during the past five years. Nominees for this award must have been instrumental in promoting international programs; academic and global outreach programs; or international research at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno. Members of the Faculty Advisory Committee of the Ozmen Institute for Global Studies are not eligible to be nominated for this award. Self-nominations are not accepted.

The applicant for the Global Engagement Award must be nominated by a current full-time academic faculty or administrative faculty of the University by submitting this . Materials solicited from nominees include the following:

  • Summary of contributions
  • Biographical information
  • Supporting documentation
  • Supporting letter

A committee of the Ozmen Institute for Global Studies reviews the nominee materials and selects a recipient based on the above selection criteria.

Nominations must be submitted and received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, and all supporting documents must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025. Nominations submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
