Summary
Available for Drop-in Advising on Tuesday mornings
I am an academic advisor within the College of Business. My last name is Toilolo, pronounced Toy-Low-Low. My husband and I recently relocated from Hawaii to be closer to family. I have three beautiful grandchildren in the Reno area who I enjoy spending my free time with. A desert is a big change from an island, and I am enjoying the transition with the seasons, wonderful people, my lovely family and being part of the university.
After earning my associate’s degree from Cuyamaca Community College, where I changed my major several times, I transferred to San Diego State University where I earned my BSW and graduated Cum Laude. During my time as a first-generation adult student, I interned at an overnight safe parking facility for houseless individuals, studied abroad in Germany, worked full-time and raised three active children. Looking back now, I’m not sure how I balanced it all. I know I had some failures along the way, but one thing I know for sure—it wasn’t always easy, but it was worth it!
Although new to Higher Education, I am not new to education. I have spent most of my career working within the high school system as a College & Career Counselor and Academic Advisor, I am excited for this new chapter. I enjoy exploring Lake Tahoe, I love to paddle board, spending time with my friends and family, creating new Reno experiences, traveling and creating memories with my grandchildren.
