2. Once you are approved for VA educational benefits, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) in the mail. Additionally, you will need your DD-214 member copy 4. You will need to scan and email a copy of both to veteranservices@unr.edu.

1. Chapters 1606 and 30 benefits include a monthly stipend based on enrollment status. As such, the student is responsible to pay for their own tuition. The VA will post current pay rate for Chapter 1606 and 30 students on the GI Bill website.
2. VA will prorate your monthly stipend to start on the first day of the term and also to stop on the last day of the term. For example, if the term starts on August 24, you will be paid for August 24-31 for the month of August. For budgeting purposes, a student will not receive a full monthly stipend until the end of the first full month. Keep in mind that the first and last month of the term are always prorated.
3. Since Chapters 1606 and 30 students are responsible for their own tuition and fees to the university, Veteran Services offers a four-part payment plan for students using VA benefits on campus at no cost. If you are interested, please inquire with Veteran Services.
4. ÁùºÏ±¦µä National Guard members can use the tuition waiver concurrently with VA benefits. Please note that the tuition waiver should be submitted to the Cashier’s Office, not Veteran Services. For more on the tuition waiver, please visit our page on ÁùºÏ±¦µä National Guard State Benefits.
5. If you are currently classified as an out-of-state resident, please let us know so we can work with the University to have non-resident fees waived.

ÁùºÏ±¦µä National Guard offers a tuition waiver benefit. You must complete a new tuition waiver every semester that you intend to use this benefit.

1. Obtain a waiver documenent from your ÁùºÏ±¦µä National Guard Education Officer. 
2. Click the link below to complete a short form and upload your ÁùºÏ±¦µä National Guard Waiver document.
3. Once submitted, you will receive an email confirming receipt. You will receive a follow-up email when the form is processed.

One stipulation of Chapters 1606 and 30 is that the student must verify their enrollment with the VA on the last day of every school month via The VA will hold your stipend until you complete this step. Here are the steps to verify every month.

1. Call W.A.V.E. at 1-877-823-2378 on the last day of every month of school.
2. Press #1 when prompted.
3. Enter your VA file number followed by the # sign. Your VA file number is your Social Security number.
4. Enter your five-digit zip code.

After this, your enrollment will be verified, and you will receive your monthly stipend.

1. Your National Guard readiness NCO is the primary point of contact regarding state benefits. Please visit the ÁùºÏ±¦µä National Guard State Benefits webpage for more information about tuition waiver/textbook reimbursement.
2. If the student is denied for 1606 benefits by VA, they should first contact their readiness NCO to ensure that they are listed as MOS-qualified by the state.
3. If a deployment/activation interrupts the semester, we recommend that you complete a leave of absence form with Admissions and Records in order to avoid reapplying to the university and maintain active student status while away. The form is found in the Admissions and Records forms section of the University website.
