Meet our ÁùºÏ±¦µä State Climatologist, Baker Perry

Baker Perry, professor of climatology and the ÁùºÏ±¦µä State Climatologist at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, will present his talk, "Insights from the Highest Weather Stations in the World" on Thursday, November 7, 2024. This Discover Science Lecture Series presentation will discuss the rationale, challenges and insights from new weather station networks on Mount Everest in the Nepal Himalaya and the Andes of Bolivia, Chile and Peru. 

What is the Discover Science Lecture Series?

The Discover Science Lecture Series was founded by the College of Science in 2010, with the goal of bringing the country's top scientists to the University to share their knowledge, research and wisdom with the community.

Past speakers in the series include astrophysicists Michio Kaku and Neil deGrasse Tyson; Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck of the Titanic; and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

All Discover Science Lecture Series events are free and open to the public, with a reception following the lecture. Registration is required to attend.
