Tips for protecting your computer and your data

  1. Create a strong password and change it frequently (at least once per semester)
  2. Never share your password with anyone and don't write it down
  3. If you login to something, be sure to logout
  4. Log out (or lock using Ctrl+alt+delete or from the apple menu on a Mac, choose "Log Out...") your computer when it's not in use
  5. Do not use public computers to conduct financial transactions
  6. Use caution when opening email attachments
  7. Install anti-virus software and keep it up to date
