Application for Advanced ÁùºÏ±¦µäTeach Status
In order to apply for Advanced ÁùºÏ±¦µäTeach status, students must have completed at least 30 credits of college coursework and have completed NVTC 201, or the equivalent, with a grade of “C” or better. In addition, applicants must have passed the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Test (Praxis Core) or another approved test of basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics with a passing score established by the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Department of Education.
This application is due October 15th for Spring admission, and March 15th for Fall admission.
College of Education Practicums
In order to participate in classroom instruction, all students must complete a Volunteer Application Form in order to keep local schools safe. Be sure to have one of the Master Teachers sign your form.

Common Core Standards
The Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). The Common Core is informed by the highest, most effective standards from states across the U.S. and countries around the world. The standards define the knowledge and skills students should gain throughout their K-12 education in order to graduate high school prepared to succeed in entry-level careers, introductory academic college courses, and workforce training programs.
Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
The National Research Council (NRC), the National Science Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Achieve have completed a two-step process to develop the Next Generation Science Standards. The first step is to get the science right. The NRC began by developing the grounded in the most current research on science and science learning, and identified the science all K-12 students should know. The second step, a process managed by Achieve, is to have states lead the development of K-12 science standards that are rich in content and practice, and arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide all students an internationally-benchmarked science education.
ÁùºÏ±¦µä Academic Content Standards (NVACS)
The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Academic Content Standards (NVACS) Connectors provide teachers with grade level connectors that align to the general education standards in ELA and Mathematics, and provide students with significant cognitive disabilities deeper and more enduring exposure to the academic content in preparation for transitional opportunities beyond their K-12 experience.
