Summary
Ray Silva trained in music recording at the University of Southern, California and is a veteran of the music recording and film and television industries.
While in Los Angeles, Silva mixed Billboard Top 10 hits in R&B, rap and jazz; as well as earning RIAA Certified Platinum and Gold record credits. He has worked with artists such as Gerald Albright, Chuckii Booker, Stanley Clark, Jimmy Cliff, Shawn Colvin, George Duke, Jonny Gill, Lalah Hathaway, Ice Cube, Patti LaBelle, Queen Latifah, Ronnie Laws, Richard Marx, Robbie Nevil, PJ Olsson, Jeffrey Osborne, Art Porter, Portrait, Doc Powell, Sheila E., Tupac, Sandra St. Victor, Sting, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Vesta Williams and A’ngela Winbush.
In the late ’90s, Silva’s career led him to Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, where he joined the staff as a video engineer. He worked on shows such as "Frasier," "Dateline," "Dharma & Greg," "Love & Money," "Maggie" and "Titus" and films such as "Vanilla Sky" and "Spiderman." Silva then became a production sound mixer, where he mixed sitcoms at Paramount Pictures, FOX and Warner Bros., such as "Girlfriends," "Quintuplets," "Love, Inc.," "Wanda at Large" and he also mixed "Educating Lewis" – a Lewis Black sitcom pilot for ABC.
Here at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, Silva joined the faculty at the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center in 2012, where he pioneered the live HD broadcast of University Commencement Ceremonies, as well as leading the production team in events that included Sen. Harry Reid, Secretary John Kerry, Secretary Arnie Duncan. Silva has also lectured and led workshops in film production workflows.
He currently is a certified technology specialist, ANSI accredited under the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) ISO/IEC 17024:2012. Silva also holds an Audinate Dante Networked Audio Level III advanced certification.
