The Nightingale Concert Hall and the Harlan O. and Barbara Hall Recital Hall are best accessed through the Church Fine Arts Building located on Virginia Street. To access both venues, enter Church Fine Arts under the large white and neon facade. For Harlan O. and Barbara Hall Recital Hall, proceed through the double-doors onto the skywalk and into the University Foundation Arts Building.
Parking
Parking is free for arts events after 7 p.m. in the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex located north of Church Fine Arts and south of the 15th Street campus entrance.
Patron drop-off
An ADA accessible drop-off zone is located at the Virginia Street entrance to the Church Fine Arts building. For additional accessibility considerations or questions, please contact the Music Department office at (775) 784-6145.
Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall
The Department of Music's performance facilities include the 287-seat Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall, housed inside the University Foundation Arts Building, located next to the Church Fine Arts Building. Completed in 2019, the Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics. Throughout the year, it is home to a broad range of concerts and recitals, including Apex Concerts. Access to the University Foundation Arts Building is a short easy walk from the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex. There is also a skywalk located just north of Nightingale Concert Hall inside Church Fine Arts Building that connects Church Fine Arts and University Foundation Arts.
Nightingale Concert Hall
The department's facilities include the 615-seat Nightingale Concert Hall, housed in the Church Fine Arts building. Completed in 1987, the hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics. Throughout the year, it is host to a broad range of concerts, including Apex Concerts, the Reno Jazz Festival, and the Reno Chamber Music Festival. Students get the chance to perform on the "big stage" with their junior, senior and graduate recitals. The department's many small and large ensembles also perform at Nightingale.
