Some classes may require department permission, prerequisites or co-requisites, or may have sections reserved for specific student populations. If you experience issues when trying to enroll in a class, check the class information page on My���ϱ��� for requisite information and any special enrollment instructions.

Some classes require department consent, or permission from someone in the department, for you to register. Permission for you to enroll must be obtained from either the instructor or the department that administers the course and must be entered into My���ϱ��� prior to registering. The College of Liberal Arts Student Center is unable to grant permissions for students to enroll in courses needing department consent.

Advisor permission is required to enroll in a non-repeatable course a third or subsequent time. This includes repeating a class where a failing grade (F/U), withdrawal (W), audit (AD), incomplete (I) or grade replacement (R) is earned.

The Board of Regents Handbook states all NSHE students must remain continuously enrolled in English and math classes until they have satisfied their core English and math requirements.

As a result, students typically cannot drop, swap, or change core English and math courses on their own. Students can submit a class or section change by completing the Math/English enrollment assistance request online with Admissions and Records.

Enrollment holds are typically placed by other University departments. Beneath your enrollment hold in My���ϱ���, click the details button then again on the enrollment hold to view what the hold is for and who to contact for questions.

Students can order official transcripts from most institutions through the . Students transferring from NSHE institutions should pay attention to free electronic transcript request instructions.

Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships with any financial aid questions. Many majors and minors have program-specific scholarships — please contact the department office to inquire about these.

All incoming liberal arts freshmen students are required to meet with a College of Liberal Arts college advisor before starting their first semester. For freshmen beginning in a fall semester, this meeting typically takes place during your new student orientation session in the summer. (Note: “freshmen” includes all students that have just completed high school, even if bringing in any amount of transfer credit). Students entering the University at other times of year should contact the College of Liberal Arts Student Center at (775) 682-8745 to schedule an advising appointment.

As of January 1, 2020, current students at the University changing into liberal arts from another major must meet with a college advisor in the Student Center to formally change their major.

Yes! Students on academic recovery or dismissal are required to meet with a College of Liberal Arts college advisor prior to semester registration or return. Contact the College of Liberal Arts Student Center at (775) 682-8745 to schedule an appointment.

Students can access their Academic Advising Report (AAR) via My���ϱ��� from the Student Center – Classic View tile. Under the academics section of your student center dashboard, choose “academic requirements” from the dropdown box. Your AAR contains all the requirements you need to graduate, so it is important to review this report with an advisor as you plan future courses.

The "What-if Report" provides a scenario for you to see how the coursework you have completed might be applicable (or not) in choosing a new major or minor. The "What-If Report" presents similarly to your AAR, so you can see the remaining requirements for your potential plan. Navigating from the My���ϱ��� Student Center – Classic View tile, students can generate this report under the academics section on the student center dashboard. Note: Using the "What-if Report" does not officially change your major or minor — you should meet with an advisor to discuss the requirements and declare the plan.

Students pursuing just two plans (a major and a single minor, or just two majors) will see coursework fill in the advising report automatically, only after both plans are included on the student record.

Students pursuing more than two plans (a major and two minors, two majors and a minor, etc.) or whose first major is not in the College of Liberal Arts will have this coursework filled in manually, only after CLA advisors submit an exception form to the Office of Admissions and Records on the student's behalf. If you are nearing graduation and believe you have taken courses that fulfill this requirement, send a list of these courses with your name and NSHE student ID# to CLA advisors.

Additionally, due to limitations on the advising report coding, some courses that may be eligible for the breadth requirement may not fill in automatically and will need to be updated manually.
