RTC routes

"The RAPID Virginia Line is the highest-ridership route in Regional Tranportation Committee's transit system. Extending the RAPID Virginia Line to the University is anticipated to continue to increase ridership while providing students, faculty, and staff with an enhanced travel option through the Virginia Street corridor in Reno.

As part of the Virginia Street project, there are five new RAPID transit stations near the University, on both sides of Virginia Street. The RTC has also made sidewalk improvements and added a roundabout on Virginia Street at the entrance to the University’s West Stadium Parking Complex to improve safety and traffic flow. The project also included the restriping of Virginia Street from two lanes of traffic in each direction to one traffic lane and one shared bus/bicycle lane for both northbound and southbound traffic flow. The Midtown improvements are similar, including three upgraded RAPID stations and a roundabout."

Regular sessions of the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Legislature are held biennially in odd-numbered years. They convene on the first Monday in February after the election of members of the Senate and Assembly. The Knowledge Fund

The Knowledge Fund, administered by , is a major instrument to recruit highly specialized science and research faculty. This recruitment effort further expands already existing research areas of excellence in the state and thereby assists applied research centers in the effort to support industry innovation in ÁùºÏ±¦µä. Through the Knowledge Fund, GOED supports projects at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Las Vegas (UNLV), the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno (UNR), and the Desert Research Institute (DRI).

To obtain this funding, the ÁùºÏ±¦µä System of Higher Education (NSHE) submits applications to GOED for projects that could benefit from Knowledge Fund support. View some of the University's supported projects.

Federal

Cares Act Emergency Funds

As part of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the University was been approved for a one-time, limited allocation of funds to assist degree-seeking students in need because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its disruption of campus operations.

CARES Act funding assisted with expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, or health care).

ÁùºÏ±¦µä State Public Health Laboratory

The ÁùºÏ±¦µä State Public Health Laboratory (NSPHL) serves the Silver State as a first line of defense against public health threats. Led by Mark Pandori, Ph.D., the NSPHL has been an important source of statewide guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The laboratory’s aggressive approach to developing and certifying testing capacity has made ÁùºÏ±¦µä a leader in testing for the coronavirus at a higher per capita rate than many other states. The NSPHL also provides a wide range of diagnostic and analytical services for infectious/communicable diseases, foodborne outbreak analyses, biological and chemical terrorism and the evaluation of dairy products and water to evaluate safety for consumption and compliance throughout ÁùºÏ±¦µä.
