Welcome to the Core Writing Program at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno. We offer a variety of courses designed to meet different students’ needs as they adjust to the writing demands of college and beyond. Our classes emphasize rhetorical flexibility, giving students the knowledge and experience to tailor their writing to different audiences and different contexts. Our first-semester courses - English 100I, 101 and 113 - build foundational knowledge in understanding and analyzing different rhetorical contexts for writing and ask students to transform their writing into different genres for different audiences. Our second-semester offerings - English 102 and 114 - build on knowledge gained in the earlier courses and promote prolonged engagement with a research topic while increasing the emphasis on multimodal communication.
