Checklist for graduates
Congratulations on completing your journey at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno! Below is some information to help you complete the final step and make it through your graduation ceremony.
Steps to take before graduating
Every candidate for a degree must formally apply for graduation through MyÁùºÏ±¦µä and pay the non-refundable application fee. The deadline to apply for Spring Graduation is March 1, Summer Graduation is June 1and Fall Graduation is October 1. The graduation application is good for one semester only.
To submit an application for undergraduate or graduate student graduation, log in to MyÁùºÏ±¦µä and select the Academic Records tile. Select Apply for Graduation from the menu and follow the steps.
- Make sure and select the term you will be finishing all requirements for your degree.
- Confirm that the requirements for your degree have been satisfied. Undergraduate students must complete all of the requirements on your Academic Advising Report (AAR) by the last day of the term.
- Contact your Academic Advisor if you have any questions regarding your AAR. All graduate students please refer to your Program of Study.
To ensure your diploma is sent to the correct address, it is very important your mailing address in MyNEVADA is up to date. To update your mailing address, log in to MyNEVADA, select the Personal Information tile and then select Addresses. You will be able to view, add, and edit your mailing address.
It is also important to update your degree name, NOT your preferred name, in MyÁùºÏ±¦µä. Your degree name is the name that will be used for the program, your reader card, and your diploma. To update your degree name, log in to MyÁùºÏ±¦µä and select the Personal Information tile then select Personal Details from the menu option. Here you will be able to edit your degree name by adding or deleting your middle name, prefixes, suffixes, and so on. In order to ensure your graduate slide reflects your correct name, please make edits in MyNEVADA by November 1 (Fall ceremony) and April 1 (Spring ceremony).
A student RSVP is required to attend the in-person ceremonies. Graduates will receive the RSVP link via email at the beginning of October for Winter ceremonies and at the beginning of March for Spring ceremonies.

Purchasing regalia
Caps and gowns may be obtained from the in the Joe Crowley Student Union. They will be available for purchase in-store starting October 8, 2024. All bachelor's and master's attire are purchased and yours to keep. You do not need to return the gowns.
Cap decorating party
Graduating students are invited to attend a cap decorating party hosted by the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Alumni Association! Follow or email nvalumni@unr.edu for details on the date, time and location each semester.
Non-custom graduation announcements can be bought in-store or purchased online at the . The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Wolf Shop also offers custom announcements from , .
To ensure you receive your diploma once your degree has posted, make sure any financial holds you may have are taken care of and removed. This may include paying any outstanding fees, parking tickets, or library fines. Holds can be viewed in MyÁùºÏ±¦µä under Student Center – classic tile. If there are no holds on your record, it will read "No Holds" underneath the Holds section.
Complete the First Destination Survey to share your plans for after graduation, including work, graduate school or travel. Check your email for the survey link or access it via an online survey. You can change or update your survey answers if your plans change in the coming months.

Graduates will be issued a GradPass. The GradPass is your electronic ticket into the event and will be used to announce your name when you cross the stage. Each GradPass contains a unique QR code and will be issued approximately three weeks prior to the ceremonies.
