Summary
Davide Baldan is a behavioral ecologist and evolutionary biologist interested in the evolution of sexual conflict and parental cooperation. The Baldan lab uses an integrative approach to understand the behavioral mechanisms and the evolutionary consequences of parental care strategies.
Parental care is a fascinating social system because parents must cooperate together to raise their offspring while facing an evolutionary conflict of interest (sexual conflict). This tension between conflict and cooperation has led to the evolution of diverse parental care systems and behaviors. In his career, Davide Baldan has been working on different avian species in the field, all characterized by different parental strategies, such as biparental, male-only and female-only care.
