Spectrum Learning Center

The Spectrum Learning Center at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno provides behavioral services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and serves preschool and elementary aged children. Spectrum Learning Center is a laboratory center that offers services rooted in in the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while also researching and refining assessment and intervention strategies to advance the evidence-based practice of ABA. Spectrum Learning Center works closely with learners and their families to ensure that each client receives individualized service of the highest quality.

Our mission 

The mission of Spectrum Learning Center is to produce quality ABA services, trained practitioners, and applied research that results in improvement in quality of life for consumers of ABA services and promotes socially valid advancements within the applied behavior analytic community in a manner that is compliant with industry standards and promotes ethical practice.

Bethany Contreras – Executive Director

Bethany Contreras

Dr. Bethany Contreras is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno and is the Executive Director of the University's Spectrum Learning Center. She is a doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) and a Licensed Behavior Analyst in the state of ÁùºÏ±¦µä (NV-LBA). Dr. Contreras earned her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and Organizational Behavior Management at the Florida Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in Disability Disciplines with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis from Utah State University. Dr. Contreras also completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri. Dr. Contreras has been working in Applied Behavior Analysis since 2005 and has worked closely with parents, teachers and other service providers to meet the needs of her clients. She also has extensive experience training others to implement behavior analytic interventions.
