The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Association for Positive Behavior Support Network

The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Association for Positive Behavior Support (NVAPBS) is a professional organization and official chapter of the Association for Positive Behavior Support (APBS). The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Network is supported by the National APBS and the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED). The Network first began between 2010-2012, when a small group of key stakeholders and leaders (i.e., Ashley Greenwald, Don Jackson, Glen Dunlap, Janice Lee) held meetings with goal of increasing the reach and visibility of PBS in ÁùºÏ±¦µä. A logic model was developed to identify resources and desired outputs (activities) & outcomes. In 2012, a petition was submitted to the National APBS to establish the ÁùºÏ±¦µä APBS Network: this petition was approved at 2012 APBS Conference, and the Network has been in operation since then. The mission of the NV APBS Network is to extend the awareness of Positive Behavior Support in ÁùºÏ±¦µä, with the ultimate purpose being to enhance the quality of life of ÁùºÏ±¦µäns with disabilities and challenging behavior through directed, evidence-based instruction, consultation, and systematic change. Our goal is to build the capacity of families, schools and community agencies to provide sustainable, meaningful behavior support. The ÁùºÏ±¦µä APBS Network facilitates the development of new partnerships with school districts, community agencies, and other stakeholders.

Mission

The primary purpose for establishing an APBS Network in ÁùºÏ±¦µä is: (1) to give recognition and identity to the many collaborating individuals, professionals and organizations in the state that are currently engaged in activities related to positive behavior support and (2) to strengthen our efforts to encourage the adoption and implementation of PBS approaches in additional venues that could benefit from.
