Summary
Gemmy is a first-year M.A. student in the Gender, Race and Identity program and holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno. Being a first-generation U.S. Born Citizen and scholar, she is passionate about promoting and creating a safe and inclusive community system. Gemmy works full-time as a Diversity Advisor, gaining experience in creating an equitable environment within healthcare. She considers herself a ÁùºÏ±¦µän, having been raised in ÁùºÏ±¦µä most of her life. Gemmy loves spending quality time with her nieces and nephews and exploring her Filipina roots through cooking traditional Filipino cuisine. Her current research interests include internalized oppression, mental health of Asian-identified people of various gender, sexual orientations, and multicultural identities, and indigenous and post-colonial psychology.
