Extension Award of Excellence for Supporters
The Extension Award of Excellence for Supporters recognizes individuals or groups whose exceptional efforts have furthered the educational mission of Extension.
Christina Saheb is an administrator and registered dietitian at the Clark County School District Food Service Department, where she manages a staff of over 130 employees and oversees daily production of 100,000 breakfasts, 160,000 lunches and 4,000 suppers. This school-food hero not only ensures the child nutrition program complies with federal and state regulations, but also helps bring new and exciting items to the menu, works tirelessly to reduce food waste, and creates special menus for students with special dietary needs, among many other duties. Despite being just one of two dietitians at the Food Service Department, Saheb manages to find time to provide nutrition and wellness technical assistance to schools, food service employees, district administrators, parent groups and community organizations. She serves on the Southern ÁùºÏ±¦µä Food Council and the Partners for a Healthy ÁùºÏ±¦µä School Wellness Taskforce, two local community coalitions focused on improving health and access to healthy foods. She also is a member of the School Nutrition Association and the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Saheb finds time to stay current on her dietetics practice by providing nutrition counseling for Nutrition by Joey, a local small business. In her leisure time, she enjoys primitive camping, hiking, yoga and hanging out with close friends.
