Outstanding Senior

The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes graduating students who have excelled academically and have improved leadership in our College.

Born and raised in Sparks, Kaylie fell in love with agriculture as a young girl as she spent days gardening with her grandma and out hiking and trail running with her dad. In high school, she discovered a passion for agricultural literacy and teaching others while learning about different careers in agriculture through her FFA program. During her freshman year of college, she served as a ÁùºÏ±¦µä FFA state officer, which cemented her passion for teaching and leadership. However, several experiences throughout her college career began to point her toward medicine. Still carrying her love and enjoyment for agricultural sciences, she proceeded to study both agriculture and basic sciences in preparation for medical school. She will be attending the University’s School of Medicine this fall as a member of the class of 2024, embarking on a difficult but much anticipated journey to becoming a medical doctor. She is extremely grateful for her experiences that pointed her in this direction and mentors who encouraged her along the way, also for the opportunities provided by the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources. Kaylie says, "I'm pretty sure nobody else entering into medical school will have the same degree," she said, "but in the same way, nobody else has four years of experience studying an applied science. So, I am glad for the decision I made."
