Veterinary Science
Outstanding Senior
The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes graduating students who have excelled academically and have improved leadership in our College.
Allison Dooley recently graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary science. As a recipient of the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Undergraduate Research Award, she conducted a research project under the supervision and mentorship of Elizabeth Pringle in the Department of Biology, looking at the effects of environmental stress on the monarch butterfly’s primary food source, milkweed. She recently presented on her findings at the virtual Undergraduate Research Symposium. Throughout her undergraduate career, when away from Reno, she has actively volunteered for the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control. She is now planning her move up to Corvallis, Oregon, where she will begin her studies at the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University. Allison says, "I am so grateful to all those who have supported me throughout my four years here at University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno. I would like to especially thank my parents and sister, my friends and the many faculty who have supported me in all of my endeavors. Also, I would like to thank my faculty advisor, Dr. Coretta Patterson, for all the encouragement she has given me throughout the veterinary school application process and my research faculty advisor, Dr. Elizabeth Pringle, for everything she has done to help me become a better critical thinker. Thank you and go Pack!"
