Outstanding Graduate Student
The Outstanding Graduate Student Award is given annually to graduate students who have distinguished records within their programs, shown leadership qualities on campus and worked for the improvement of our College.
Joshua Sturtevant received his bachelor's degree in geology from Bates College in his home state of Maine before coming to the University to pursue a master’s degree in hydrology. He works with Adrian Harpold in the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Mountain Ecohydrology Lab, researching streamflow response to snow drought in the Western U.S. He is also part of the committee that organizes the Hydrologic Sciences Colloquium and interacts with speakers. Joshua was selected for the 2019-2020 Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center’s National Resources Workforce Development Fellowship, along with graduate students from University of Arizona; Colorado State University; University of California, Davis; University of California, Los Angeles; University of California, San Diego and Utah State University. As part of this fellowship, he will be mentored in a year-long research experience to improve understanding of the linkages between the management of headwater ecosystems and downstream water resources.
