Qingxu Wei was born in 1997 in Jining, Shandong, China. Starting art in 2007, his desire to create art soon became an indomitable obligation to explore the internal mechanism of the creative consciousness. From sketches to large projects, his art is a high reflection of himself. Qingxu received his BFA at Utah Tech University and he has explored various media. He often pays attention to the monotony of daily life and looks for artistic expression between daily experience and visible perception.
Artist's Statement
How to define art? I always believe that a thing which can make people feel empathetic is art. It is a kind of culture that uses some means or media to shape images and create an atmosphere to reflect reality and repose emotions. Works of art are the expression of the artist's emotion and heart. In addition to the positive themes such as expressing goodwill, many works of art contain painful and negative emotions. But if the work can produce empathy with the audience, it can also pass the same feeling. Human emotions are complex, for pain can also feel the positive. Living in the world, there are many things that make people enjoy, so I think this is art. Whether it's the exquisite art in the exhibition hall or the uncanny workmanship of nature, we can all feel empathetic with it.
