End of the academic year
May 15, 2024
Dear Wolf Pack Family,
Given the sunny and warm weather over the past few days, it feels as if we’ve jumped directly from spring to summer! This time of year on our campus is an extraordinarily beautiful one and provides us an opportunity as the semester draws to a close to consider and celebrate the many achievements of students, faculty and staff.
The effort put forth by everyone at the University throughout the academic year has helped grow our culture of student success; it has led to innovative and transformative research and scholarly endeavors; it has delivered service that has made the communities of ÁùºÏ±¦µä stronger. Taken together, all of this work speaks to a vigorous, impactful and high-achieving University that in its 150th year is accomplishing more than ever before. I sincerely wish to thank everyone for the work that has been done this year.
This is also the time of year when we look with anticipation to our historic Quad. Spring Commencement Ceremonies begin on Thursday and run through Saturday, May 16-18. Already you can see and hear the signs of what is to come: the sound checks that have been echoing across the Quad; the placement of rows and rows of chairs soon to be occupied by the Class of 2024 and their families and friends; the beauty of the Quad’s greenery; and the excitement that this newest graduating class is about to proudly add its own chapter to our history.
All graduating classes have a special story to share. For the Class of 2024, Commencement this week will be a culmination of a journey of some unexpected twists and turns. Four years ago, high school graduations throughout most of the country were held remotely, or in a “drive-through” fashion due to the pandemic. From those uncertain days, this week’s graduates have used determination, adaptability and resiliency to reach this moment. I could not be happier for these graduates. Congratulations to the members (as well as their friends and families) of the Class of 2024!
The University will confer more than 3,027 degrees during the Spring Commencement Ceremonies this week. The processional times of the five ceremonies spread over three days are as follows:
May 16
- 9 a.m.: College of Science and School of Social Work
- 3 p.m.: College of Liberal Arts, Orvis School of Nursing and Reynolds School of Journalism
May 17
- 9 a.m.: College of Business
- 3 p.m.: College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources and College of Engineering
May 18
- 9 a.m.: College of Education and Human Development, School of Medicine (Speech Pathology) and School of Public Health
More information about the Spring Commencement ceremonies can be found on the University website, including Commencement FAQs (parking details, prohibited items, seating information, amenities, etc.).
We have arrived at a momentous time on our campus. Thank you again for making this year such a special one for our University!
Go Pack!
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
President
