Dear Wolf Pack Family,

We are now a month into the spring semester. I hope these first few weeks have been a time for all of you to find a certain sense of learning rhythm and equilibrium, including the opportunity to support one another in discovering the power and purpose of our University community. Today, I'm writing to you regarding a crucial matter: recent changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application process.

As you may already be aware, Congress recently passed the FAFSA Simplification Act, with significant changes to the way students and families navigate the financial aid application landscape. While this act aims to streamline the application process and expand eligibility for federal student aid, we understand that it may have also introduced new challenges and frustrations for many of you and your families.

In recognition of this, I am pleased to announce that we have extended our priority application deadline until March 15.

Please know that the University is actively seeking to smooth this transition, and our Financial Aid Office is prepared to offer guidance, support, and assistance to all students and families who may find themselves stuck or in need of clarification throughout the financial aid application process. Our Financial Aid Office is here to help; please make sure you take advantage of this expertise in helping to guide you through this process.

I encourage you to reach out to our Financial Aid Office at finaid@unr.edu for personalized support and guidance, and to check the Financial Aid webpage for FAFSA information and updates. Remember, you are not alone in this journey, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your resilience and determination as you continue to pursue your educational goals, and we are honored to support you in realizing your dreams.

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
President
