Pam Moore, a valued and dedicated employee of the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno, passed away on Sept. 22, 2024. Pam began her career at the University on May 27, 1997, and served the Graduate School for 23 of her 27 years. Many knew her as the heart of the Graduate School – aware of every process, exception, program director, and as someone who often knew the graduate students walking into the office by name. Her commitment to supporting graduate students on their degree paths was unwavering.

During a celebration of life held at the University on Oct. 4, Dean of the Graduate School Markus Kemmelmeier remarked, “Pam’s dedication to students reminded us that we are not here for paperwork or buildings; people are at the center of everything we do.”

There were tearful chuckles as a few speakers remarked how stubborn Moore could be when it came to processes, eager to note that her occasional rigidity was because she cared so deeply about the students’ experiences.

Others commented how she was a fixture at commencement ceremonies, organizing hooding details and directing students, giving everyone in the room pause realizing just how many graduate students she had helped to cross the stage during her career.

Lily Raymond, a graduate student from the College of Engineering, “One Saturday, she met me in person to help get school supplies. That was the kind of person she was: if someone needed something, she could always support them.

Moore is survived by her sister and mother, both residing in Oklahoma.
