For more than 20 years, fun and learning have gone hand in hand at summer camps held on the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno campus. This year, more than 20 different full-day and half-day weeklong camps will be offered for children ages 7-14 from June 17 to July 26.

Many of the high-quality educational camps are STEAM based, and some offerings include art, world cultures, mythology, coding, creative writing, Harry Potter, space, robotics, cheer and dance, soccer, yoga, forensic investigation, health care, math, basketball and animals.

The camps are offered by the University’s unit, and are taught by certified teachers and graduate students, as well as professionals in their fields. KIDS U programs are designed to introduce campers to the college experience and help them discover their strengths to widen their horizons. Many campers return year-after-year and later become counselors.

now. Full-day camps are $325 per week. Half-day camps are $225 per week. For the weeks of June 17 and July 1, the full-day camps are $260 per week, and half-day camps are $180 per week, as no camps will be held June 19 and July 4.

Some of the camps that will be offered include:

Around the World in Ecosystems
Ages: 7-9
Explore different ecosystems and biomes from places far and wide. Learn about everything from the rain forests of Central America to the frozen Arctic Circle to the scorching hot deserts much closer to home.

Code, Create, Play
Ages: 9-14
Create games, animations, stories and music all on your own and with complete creative freedom using the Scratch coding program. Campers will learn to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively.

CSI: The Science of Justice
Ages: 9-12
Become a forensic investigator as we delve into solving a robbery mystery where gold has been stolen. Use scientific skills and teamwork to document evidence at the crime scene and analyze it in the lab. 

Exploring Robotics and Music
Ages: 7-9 and 8-10
Discover the fascinating intersection between music, robotics and coding. Using SPIKE Prime robotics kits, campers will embark on coding and building challenges to bring their robotic creations to life. They will learn music reading and performance skills with ukuleles and melodicas.

Monsters and Myths
Ages: 8-14
Kids who want to learn more about expressing themselves through writing will compose, create and concoct complex characters in crazy adventures. Throw in a dash of poetry, a sprinkling of art and performance to keep things fresh. 

Next Stop SPACE!
Ages: 7-10
Join us on a journey through the cosmos filled with awesome STEM projects, hands-on exploration, creative adventures and fun physical activities. Get ready to discover the incredible wonders of our solar system.

The Painting Studio – Life is Art
Ages: 10-14
Using the backdrop of traditional master artists, students will paint using a variety of painting mediums with a step-by-step, instructor-led approach. Styles include Georgia O’Keefe in watercolors, Nagel in mixed media, Vincent Van Gogh in acrylics and pastels, and Michelangelo in oil painting and clay relief.

Perform With Your PACK!
Ages: 7-10 and 10-14
Step into the world of high-energy fun at cheer and dance camp. While learning the basic skills, campers will unlock a newfound confidence and leadership skills. Perform the final day of camp for family and friends.

Return to Hogwarts!
Ages: 8-14
Using Harry Potter novels, explore character, conflict, figurative language, symbolism and other literary elements. Campers will craft their own stories from Hogwarts and beyond. Write and perform skits, and enjoy excerpts from Harry Potter films.

Soccer Fun: Kick, Bond, Play
Ages: 7-14
Taught by a professional soccer player from BattleBorn FC, campers will participate in lively soccer drills, team-bonding games, energetic soccer games and active athletic routines. Open to all levels of experience.
