Students and faculty from the Reynolds School of Journalism were honored at the school’s annual Savitt Awards Banquet last night. Those honored included 44 students who received scholarships during the 2023-24 academic year from 65 different scholarship funds, as well as 15 students who received “Outstanding Student Awards” in various categories.
Over $178,300 was awarded to students in various areas of study, from advertising and public relations to visual communication to writing and investigative reporting.
Fifteen students were awarded outstanding student awards in categories including advertising, documentary film, electronic media, new media, news, business journalism, public relations, visual communication, graduate studies, service and more.
Seven students were inducted in the Kappa Tau Alpha, the national collegiate honor society for journalism and mass communications schools.
Senior Scholars Haley Ekberg (’23) and Jaedyn Young were recognized for their spectacular academic achievements.
The ÁùºÏ±¦µä Semenza Christian Teaching Award, which is nominated by students and presented annually to a Reynolds School faculty member to recognize outstanding teaching, was awarded to Patrick File, associate professor of media law and director of the graduate program.
The Savitt Awards Banquet is named in honor of the late Ella Savitt, a longtime supporter of the Reynolds School, whose generosity has made a difference in the lives of countless journalism students.
