Each year, the ϱ System of Higher Education (NSHE) holds two diversity summits; one is held in northern ϱ and the other is in southern ϱ. The day-long events include various tracks and sessions related to inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA), and the connections to student success initiatives, workforce and economic development, community engagement, and pipelines to higher education.
The selected theme of “Effective Inclusion: Understanding & Supporting Experiences of Belonging” was voted on by the Cultural Diversity Committee with input from various affinity groups.
The Northern ϱ Diversity summit will be held in the Joe Crowley Student Union on campus at the University of ϱ, Reno on April 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The summit and associated sessions are free for all faculty, staff and students of NSHE institutions and for community partners to attend.
Program Development Specialist in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Angela Moore, has been instrumental in organizing the Northern ϱ Diversity Summit. “I hope this event will provide a space for people who care about topics related to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access to connect, share ideas, struggles, best practices, fascinating questions, and be together in community,” Moore said. “I most look forward to the conversations.”
