Dr. Cameron Duncan, the current Interim Dean of the Orvis School of Nursing, has been selected as a 2023 Fellow by the (FAANP) and will soon be inducted.
Duncan is joining the FAANP alongside other accomplished nurse practitioners who have significantly impacted the nurse practitioner profession.
“This is a huge honor for me to receive this induction as a Fellow for the (AANP). AANP is the largest organization of Nurse Practitioners in the world and only a few members are invited as a Fellow to the organization,” Duncan said. “This designation is so meaningful because it represents all of the education I have received, the time I have committed to caring for my community and the dedication I have to the profession.”
This honor is following a rigorous evaluation process, which includes demonstrating exceptional contributions and outcomes in research, clinical practice, education and/or policy. Every year, the application opens in August and the inductees are selected in the spring.
The FAANP program was established in 2000 and focuses on the advancement of nurse practitioners and the high-quality healthcare that they provide.
As a newly inducted Fellow, Duncan will be responsible for volunteering his expertise as a reviewer, topical expert, committee member, journal contributor and mentor in order to help develop the nurse practitioner leaders of the future.
“I hope to increase the visibility of nurse practitioners as a profession and to help mentor nurse practitioner students and practicing nurse practitioners to excel in the profession and one day become AANP Fellows themselves,” Duncan said.
The official 2023 FAANP Induction Ceremony will be held this summer in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 22 during the AANP National Conference.
