What's your role on campus?
I manage marketing and communications for the College of Science.
How long have you been riding a bike?
I've been riding a bike as far back as I can remember, really. But biking became central to my life in college. I worked at bikes shops while an undergrad in New York City and commuted everywhere by bike. I did a few triathlons and worked for a tri shop, but my favorite experience was working for a used/vintage bike shop, Landmark Bicycles, in the East Village. I especially loved commuting over the bridges. My daily commute was over the Manhattan Bridge, to and from Brooklyn. I miss it! A few years ago, I brought my husband to New York for the first time. My former boss at Landmark Bicycles loaned us a couple of bikes to use while there (thank you, Chung!). We road all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, stopping wherever we wanted to tour art galleries, eat some food, and hang in Central Park. It was a blast being back there with him, and showing him the city by bike (which is definitely the best way to explore any new place).
What's the most fun you've ever had on a bike?
The most fun I've had on my bike recently has been commuting with my daughter riding in a toddler seat on the back. She's finally big enough and she absolutely loves it! She's very proud of her helmet.
What's great about bike commuting to the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno?
I love not having to drive or park! And I can't imagine starting my day off without the big dose of fresh air I get during my commute.
