The is happening May 4-6 at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno's Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center. Enjoy a selection of 16 new science fiction and science-themed short films in the Planetarium’s full-dome theater.
Additional festival highlights include screenings of the 2022 Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature Film, Disney-Pixar’s “Luna,” the Academy-Award-winning science film “My Octopus Teacher,” and the full-dome planetarium film “Space Opera” introduced by a live piano performance from the Planetarium’s former director, Art Johnson.
The Sci-On! Film Festival seeks to recognize, reward and showcase outstanding science and science-fiction films and filmmakers. Film awards include Best Science Documentary, the Roddenberry Award (audience choice), Best Space Film (Animation or Live Action), and the Directors' and Film Critics' Awards. Attendees are invited to vote on their favorite film nominees.
“Our goal is to bring science fiction and science documentary short films to audiences in ÁùºÏ±¦µä and around the world and to recognize, reward and showcase creativity, ingenuity and science-based imagination,” Planetarium Director Paul McFarlane said.

Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center is located north of Lawlor Events Center on North Virginia and 16th Street. It is 1.5 miles north of the downtown Reno arch.
