A (NIST) grant of $950,000 has been awarded to continue the Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center at the (NVIE) hosted by the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno.
NVIE is a statewide program, that serves as ÁùºÏ±¦µä’s approved NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center and the industrial extension program of the ÁùºÏ±¦µä System of Higher Education. It is a resource for small- and medium-sized manufacturers in ÁùºÏ±¦µä, providing services to a rapidly growing sector of the state economy.
“ÁùºÏ±¦µä Industry Excellence is honored and proud to represent the MEP National Network in ÁùºÏ±¦µä. We are grateful for the many partners that support our efforts and champion manufacturing growth in ÁùºÏ±¦µä,” said Director of NVIE Tom Simpkins. “The future of ÁùºÏ±¦µä manufacturing is bright and we have already begun work on the next phase of creating a state-wide manufacturing ecosystem that fosters growth, support and a cohesive effort in further establishing our state as a leader in manufacturing.”
The operation of a Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) through NVIE helps to adopt and expand recognized training credentials for manufacturers across the state of ÁùºÏ±¦µä as well as increasing access to STEM careers and education.
“There are so many terrific ÁùºÏ±¦µä businesses, and they need support in their work to make products right here at home, address supply chain issues, and grow our economy,” said U.S. Senator Cortez Masto (D-NV). “This grant funding will help ÁùºÏ±¦µä continue its efforts to train workers for good-paying manufacturing jobs and expand our manufacturing industry.”
This grant will bolster and create manufacturing jobs in ÁùºÏ±¦µä by addressing growth services, supply chain development, energy savings and connecting industry partners to cutting-edge research and development programs. “Boosting our manufacturing sector will continue to diversify ÁùºÏ±¦µä’s economy, help prevent disruptions, and create more good-paying jobs,” said U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV).
NVIE supports manufacturers as part of the MEP National NetworkTM, which includes the MEP national program office located at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as well as 51 MEP Centers located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
