What got you interested in engineering?

I got interested in engineering because of the paths that it could lead me down. An engineer can work anywhere in the world and with chemical engineering, I can be a part of any industry that I want to be a part of. I was also always pretty well skilled in mathematics and solving equations in general which also influenced me to become an engineer.

What impact do you hope to have through your engineering career?

With my engineering career, to put it simply, I want to create an impact. With both environmental and chemical engineering, I believe that I can make impact that could help preserve the environment for future generations while also giving me the opportunity to find better ways for current techniques to be improved for a better quality of life for all people on this planet.

What does the CREATE program mean to you?

The CREATE program has helped me so much along the way through just my one short year here. By providing me with many resources and by also helping me make connections with other aspiring engineers, the experience that I have had with CREATE has been one that has benefited me greatly. I have had the chance to meet some wonderful engineers who are willing and able to help me accomplish my goals and to help me become not only a better engineer but a better person.

In what ways has your peer mentor helped you?

My peer mentor, Olivia,  has provided me with the ability to succeed as a student here and has helped me create better study habits, as well as, a more defined picture of what it is like to not only be an engineer at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, but also as a member of the CREATE program.

What advice would you give someone looking to follow in your footsteps?

To all those who come after me, it may seem as though becoming an engineer is a daunting task, but the resources that are provided to you by the university and by this program are almost limitless. There are so many people here who want to see you succeed. The only thing that you have to do is ask them for help. Be willing to work with others to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. This is something that I have recently learned as a student here and it will allow your journey to become so much easier on your path to become an engineer.
