The College of Business at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno has earned an extension of accreditation in business and accounting from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. AACSB accredits institutions with the highest standard of excellence that continually work to improve the quality of business education.
According to the AACSB, there are over 835 business institutions in more than 55 countries and territories that have earned AACSB accreditation; but only 189 institutions hold the additional, specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
“This renewal of our accreditation is a testament to the high-quality programs taught by the accomplished faculty in the College of Business,” Greg Mosier, dean of the University’s College of Business, said. “I am appreciative to everyone who helped with the reaccreditation process and to the faculty and staff of the college who prepare students to think critically and strategically, and to lead in a knowledge-based global economy.”
AACSB International is the longest-serving non-profit accrediting body in the world for business schools offering undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB International’s mission is to foster engagement, accelerate innovation and amplify impact in business education. Since its opening in 1916, AACSB has accredited more than 800 schools in over 50 countries.
The college’s extension of accreditation period was approved earlier this month by the AACSB’s Continuous Improvement Review Committee and the Board of Directors following a February visit to the University’s campus by a peer review team of business school deans.
In addition to the accreditation, the College of Business was also made aware that its flagship event, TEDxUniversityofÁùºÏ±¦µä, will be featured in AACSB Innovations and Best Practices Booklet. The booklet, which comes out in May, will be an online resource that highlights innovative and effective practices by business schools.
