The University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno Political Science Department hosted the West Coast Model Arab League Conference April 7 through 9. Model Arab League is a simulated meeting where students prepare and debate formal resolutions as representatives of countries from the Middle East and North Africa.
The delegates were divided into three broad policy areas: Joint Defense, Social Affairs and Political Affairs. Participants included the University, the Air Force Academy, San Francisco State University, and the University of California, Merced. Participants are judged on both their written proposals and oral participation.
"Students from the University did exceptionally well, taking several top rankings (outstanding)," Eric Herzik, political science professor, international affairs chair and undergraduate director, said. "Our students were prepared by Eliot Assoudeh as part of the PSC 405Z class addressing the Model Arab League. Congratulations to Eliot and our students."
