Introducing the newly designed ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today

Revamped online hub for University news and information now features Faculty & Staff page, media newsroom and NSights, the University’s new blog

ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today, the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno's official news and information website has a new look, along with added infrastructure, intended to better showcase the vibrancy of the University. Redesigned with feedback the Office of Marketing and Communications solicited from faculty, staff and students, along with best practices for the industry, the site has a number of new features.

Homepage
Incorporating more multimedia elements, the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today landing page was designed to quickly and visually offer visitors a snapshot of the most relevant news and information at the University. Stories can now be filtered by category, allowing users the ability to sort their news by the topic areas that interests them most. A homepage video also offers users a new way to receive their information via a quick, one- to two-minute snapshot of the week's University headlines. Events have been brought front and center, pulling information from the University's central online calendar and placing them right on the homepage. Social connectivity and email newsletter sign-up options are also new to the site.

Story pages
Within a story, readers have the opportunity to share content directly to their social media feeds. Feature stories will connect readers to more information about specific related programs or degree pages. Readers are also given the opportunity to click on related story links if they are interested in learning more about a specific topic. Featured story pages now include a more extensive build-out option with multiple photos, easy video embedding and robust interlinking capabilities.

Faculty & Staff page
A direct result of the feedback received from faculty and staff, this new page offers faculty and staff easy access to news and information. It also features one location for University Campus Announcements. Campus Announcements, formerly sent out through a Provost Announcement email, will now be archived within ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today, allowing faculty to easily go back and find information they're looking for. Additionally, this page offers links to information most relevant to faculty and staff including Athletics, Workday, the University's Master Plan and Construction. Each week, a different faculty or staff member will be highlighted in the University Spotlight section.

Quicklinks are also now available on the Faculty & Staff page. The links are based on web analytics that showed these were the most frequented links from the last iteration of ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today. Quicklinks also remain available across the entire unr.edu site in the blue ribbon at the top right corner.

Media Newsroom
One of the goals for the new ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today website was to bring the University's newsroom into the University's main content management system. The Journalist site functions as a resource for area and national media. Media will be able to quickly access media advisories and statements, download media assets, and search for one of the many faculty experts who can comment on a trending topic.

Blog
NSights was created to offer perspectives from faculty, staff and students on issues of importance in the ongoing conversation within the University and the many communities it serves. This inclusive online venue offers readers an opportunity to hear, read and participate in diverse and thought-provoking dialogue with University experts. Viewpoints are shared around relevant issues of importance to the campus, the community, the region, the state and the world. NSights has been created to give voice to ideas and opinions in a forum that welcomes collegial and constructive comment.

Events
The University's official online events calendar is woven throughout the ÁùºÏ±¦µä Today website. This is the main calendar for all University events, and anyone with a NetID can create an event for posting to this calendar. The calendar is used for a number of communications including ÁùºÏ±¦µä Weekly, the University's weekly e-newsletter, and News Tips, a once-a-week press release sent to media highlighting the events taking place at the University.
