University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä Cooperative Extension is offering business strategies workshops this month for ÁùºÏ±¦µä agriculture producers. The workshops are for owners, operators and successors of farming and ranching operations who want to transition their operations into more dynamic or expanded businesses.
The workshop will be offered July 21 in Reno at the Washoe County Cooperative Extension office, 4955 Energy Way. Register online at . It will also be offered July 22 in Las Vegas at the Clark County Cooperative Extension office, 8050 Paradise Road, Suite 100. Register online at . Both workshops are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Topics include risk management, various business structures, business plans, budgeting, record keeping, marketing, managing credit. Also, an attorney is expected to be on hand at each location to answer questions regarding business laws. The workshop provides the setting, instructors and resources to stimulate conversations that farming and ranching operations should have when considering expanding or improving their businesses.
Registration is $10 per person and includes handouts, lunch and information updates. Those attending are encouraged to preregister at the websites given above to ensure ample space and educational materials are available. The workshops are part of Cooperative Extension's that helps farmers and ranchers across the state develop agricultural entrepreneurship, implement sustainable agricultural marketing strategies and improve profitability. The program is supported by the USDA's Risk Management Agency and the USDA's Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
