University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno undergraduate, Spenser Blank, recently was named one of 25 national . He is a dual major in Spanish and journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications. Blank is the first student from ÁùºÏ±¦µä to receive this scholarship.
"I was overwhelmed when I heard about becoming the first person at the University, nonetheless the first student in ÁùºÏ±¦µä to receive this award," he said. "It is truly rewarding to see my hard work throughout my years at the University pay off. I'm grateful to the Washington Media Scholars Foundation for helping me move toward my career path."
Blank has held internships with The Glenn Group in Reno, Nev., and Cox Communications in Las Vegas. In the 2014 spring semester, he participated in study abroad program in Bilbao, Spain. According to Blank, the and Center for Advanced Media Studies has been instrumental in providing a foundation for professional work. Blank will graduate from the University in May 2015.
